Mitchell’s Memories
Changes……
In 1970 we had a $125,000 renovation program take place for changes to the Fellowship Hall and the gym area. The kitchen was completed upstairs. The stage was enlarged, the balcony was enclosed, a couple of classrooms were changed, the historical room was established, and Fellowship Hall dividers were installed among other changes. At the time, we had 75 acres of property in Poland that we had as a back up for our financial needs. Quite a few of our church leaders at the time said it was a waste of time and money. They said that Martin Luther as an inter-city church would not be in operation in ten years, meaning by 1980. Some of us elected to take the leap of faith necessary to proceed. We are now some 39 years later, and still carrying out our mission to preach, teach and spread God’s Word with the Holy Spirit as our Guide and Jesus as our Savior.
This is my fondest memory of Martin Luther – of all the challenges, we have faced over the years we have remained firm and true to our faith in God and our response to His Word.
